Track 6: Artificial Intelligence in Education

Track Description

This track focuses on the latest advances, emerging methodologies, and innovative applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. It explores how AI technologies, including large language models, machine learning, natural language processing, learning analytics, and intelligent systems, are transforming teaching, learning, assessment, and educational management. The track provides a platform for researchers and practitioners to discuss AI-enhanced learning environments, adaptive educational systems, cognitive and intelligent modeling, and data-driven approaches for personalized and effective learning.

Prof. Edward Jay Masarate Quinto

Prof. Edward Jay Masarate Quinto, Mapúa University Makati, Philippines

Bio

Edward Jay M. Quinto is Full Professor and Dean of the School of Foundational Studies and Education, Mapúa University, Manila, Philippines. He obtained his Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from De La Salle University in 2018. His research on psycho- and sociolinguistics appeared in English World-Wide (EWW), International Journal of Multilingualism (IJM), and Asian Englishes (AE). He has led university-wide projects, which impact the quality of teaching and learning within and outside Mapúa University, such as the Mapúa Snippets, STEM Teach Mapúa 2024, and the professional learning communities (PLCs) under the Innovation Network for Supporting Professional Integration of AI in Education (INSPIRE). A member of the Mapúa AI Strategy Group, he represented Mapúa University at the 2022 and 2024 editions of the Wharton-Quacquarelli Symonds Reimagine Education Awards held respectively at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA and the Queen Elizabeth II Center, City of Westminster, London, UK.

Dr. Dongkun Han

Bio

Dr. Dongkun Han is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The University of Hong Kong, and has held research and visiting positions at the Technical University of Munich, the University of Michigan, Stanford University, and the German Institute of Science and Technology in Singapore. His educational research focuses on artificial intelligence in mathematics and general education, e-learning and experiential learning in robotics education, and professional development for engineering educators. He also co-founded the CUHK Smart Garden to promote sustainability education and Sustainable Development Goals through renewable energy and recycling initiatives. Dr. Han has served in various leadership roles for international conferences. His learner-centred teaching has been recognized by the Vice-Chancellor’s Exemplary Teaching Award, the University Education Award, and multiple faculty and general education teaching awards.
