Assoc. Prof. Eliza Berezina, Sunway University, Malaysia

Bio

Dr. Elizaveta Berezina is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Sunway University, Malaysia, in the Faculty of Medical and Life Sciences, School of Psychology. She joined the university in 2017 after serving as a Senior Lecturer in Singapore. She holds a PhD in Psychology from Moscow State University and began her career as a researcher at the Russian National Research Centre on Drug Addiction.

Before returning to academia, Dr. Berezina spent more than seven years leading public health and social development initiatives. As Lead Trainer for the AIDS Foundation East-West (AFEW), she developed training programmes for healthcare professionals across Eastern Europe and Central Asia. She later became Programme Manager at the Centre for Social Development and Information, managing HIV prevention programmes delivered through seven NGOs across Russia.

Since joining Sunway University, Dr. Berezina has combined leadership, teaching, and research. She served as Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Psychology programme from 2022 to 2025, overseeing a cohort of more than 500 students and contributing to curriculum development, quality assurance, and student support. She has received multiple student teaching appreciation awards in recognition of her commitment to educational excellence. Her research focuses on health promotion, behavioural change, personality, well-being, and innovative psychology education.
